Presence for Christmas is a four week journey into the heart of Christmas - a multitude drawn together each week following the Star.

Come each Wednesday and bring a candle. It will be placed at the Burning Bush, which will illuminate Jesus in Exposition. It's awesome. Join us in your home-  fun interaction and prayer facilitated by a Gathering Guide. Join us in a common mission to build up the family, to aid those in need - including a family devastated by Hurricane Sandy (donate at right).

P4C is our overall journey of discovering that it's about Christmas Presence

Oh... the magic and wonder of Christmas!
Remember looking through the catalogues as kids? Wondering and hoping for that special present? Remember the lights, colors and aromatic smells of something baking... Bing Crosby in the background? It's worth asking: What is the meaning of Christmas?
Is it about the presents? Where are those presents today? What enduring, meaningful impact did they have on our lives? How are we different because of them?

This year give Christmas Presence
While presents are an important part of Christmas, at the heart of it all is the fact that we have been fashioned for presence. We need God. We need so much more than cliche, or empty obligations... we need to know God.  Christmas is a grace-filled season where God offers us His Presence in Jesus Christ. He is the Present. And He makes us Presents to each other!

Presence for Christmas is a four week journey into the heart of Christmas...
an invitation for you and your family to slow down, set aside the distractions and tune into God with expectant faith that He will be Present. God wants to be so much more than an obligation. He wants to do so much more than dwell among us. He wants to dwell within us.

Come join us for all four evenings.
You'll be deeply touched.  Come with your needs,  concerns, hopes and prayers. Come join in a community seeking God together... enlivened by "something more."

[ Update 2: Greg Schlueter | P4C Director ]

One person has real need. Another, capacity to give. There's a paradox here. The person of need offers the person of capacity the greatest measure of wealth, a capacity to live for other. An opportunity to love.

Those in real need awaken us to awareness that the greatest value of a gift is the capacity to turn the given into the next giver. Until we become givers, we remain truly poor.

The James Family are a tremendous gift to us. An opportunity to love. And the response at our Presence for Christmas events and beyond has been overwhelming. So many have have discovered their wealth. They have committed to praying, fasting and giving financially.

This past Wednesday, after our Presence for Christmas event, amidst the cash and checks for the James Family was a solitary piece of paper of immeasurable value. With frayed edges, torn from a notebook, the unsigned note simply said:

"After last week our family decided to eat the food we had in our cupboards and refrigerator and donate our grocery money for the week to the James family."

What great wealth. to What the love of God can do.

This year receive the real gift. Discover the gift He is. Become the gift you are. Presence for Christmas continues next Wednesday! [If you missed it, please check out Bishop Trautman's robust reflection - Prepare the Way! ]
Along with our commitment to pray, would you please help us help them? Truly- no amount is too small or too great. All donations are tax-deductible.

[ Update 1: from Charles Kinnane | P4C Friend ]

Thank you so much for everything you are all doing to help Rick and his wife and their 2 year old. I saw him last night and he was visibly moved and humbled to learn more about the Presence for Christmas mission.
Rick has been working desperately to save his house from being condemned, but saltwater from the flooding has already started corroding electrical wires. His entire house has now become a serious fire hazard.
The news hype surrounding Hurricane Sandy is dying down now, but the people of the NY/NJ coast need your help more then ever.
Thank you so much for your generous support of Rick and his family. Words cannot express how uplifting your kind gestures mean to their spirits this Christmas season. Your Generosity is a reflection of the true meaning of Christmas.

Sincerely - Charles Kinnane

“I never look at the masses as my responsibility; I look at the individual. I can only love one person at a time - just one, one, one. So you begin. I began - I picked up one person. Maybe if I didn't pick up that one person, I wouldn't have picked up forty-two thousand....The same thing goes for you, the same thing in your family, the same thing in your church, your community. Just begin - one, one, one.” Mother Theresa
